Forsythia Bushes and Canandaigua Lake

The outdoor spring flower show in the Finger Lakes is at its peak. I just love the forsythia bushes. For most of the growing season, they are just a green bush. But come spring, they are the first of the flowering bushes to bloom. And after a long cold winter of only white, gray, and brown colors, the beautiful yellow of the forsythia bushes sure brightens up one’s spirits.

Hyacinths on Parade!

And the parade of colors just keeps coming. Next on the list are the yellow blooms of the daffodils, followed by the hyacinths, and then the lovely pinks of the PJM bushes. And after that there will be tulips of all colors to enjoy.

PJM's in Bloom

One can’t think of a better place to be than in the Finger Lakes for spring. And all these beautiful spring colors emerge against a back ground of green grass set against the deep blue of the Finger Lakes ice cold waters. Spring's splendor has indeed arrived in the Finger Lakes.
