Snow in Gastonia, North Carolina

This picture might be a typical Finger Lakes picture taken in February, but no, this is a recent picture of the patio and backyard of Aaron and Michele Clarke who live in Gastonia, North Carolina. None my grandchildren are playing outside in the snow and I’m thinking that they probably don’t have snow pants nor have they ever seen snow before!

I moved my daughter to Hillsborough, North Carolina in 1997. She headed south to North Carolina to escape the cold winters of Syracuse, NY and to begin her working career as a medical technologist at Duke University in Durham. Most of the time it is very hot and humid in North Carolina, but this year, the Carolinas have not escaped the huge record setting snow storms that have traveled along the east side of the Appalachian Mountains.

Today is Valentine’s Day, and I miss my daughter, son- in- law, and two grandchildren in North Carolina. Perhaps this summer we will go for another visit, but not before the patio is free and clear of snow!
