Winter Has Finally Arrived in the Finger Lakes |
| 12/30/2009 7:10:00 AM |

In a strange sort of way, the blast of ice cold Arctic air that arrived on Monday night and Tuesday morning of this week was a relief. I had been waiting for the cold and snow to arrive before Christmas, but all Santa brought was rain. Now that has changed.
The drift of snow that always piles up in front of my garage doors arrived with the swirling winds and 9 degree... Read More |

Making the Best of Time in the Finger Lakes |
| 12/26/2009 8:28:13 AM |

With everyone exhausted and worn out from all of the shopping and Christmas festivities, it’s time to step back, and reflect on all of the people, events, and places that we have visited this year in the Finger Lakes and to look forward to a new year.
Someone recently posed the following question, “If you could be granted just one Christmas wish, what would you wish for?”... Read More |

Visited By An Angel in the Finger Lakes |
| 12/22/2009 6:48:56 PM |

I was mowing the church’s lawn one hot day this summer and wondering to myself what was I doing there when I could have been at home taking care of my own yard. A lady in an SUV stopped by the church and asked for directions to some road that I had never heard of. She showed me her map with some directions written down and I instantly recognized that she had traveled too... Read More |

A Thank You Note to Finger Lakes Winery Dog Duke |
| 12/20/2009 2:52:36 PM |

Well Winery Dog Duke old buddy, another year in the Finger Lakes has come and gone. Where has the time gone? I hope that you enjoyed the organic dog cookies that we brought to your birthday party. We “old dogs” have to be careful with what we eat. It didn’t used to be that way, you know. Anyway, it was a great party and the Winery Dog Duke Christmas tree ornament will... Read More |

Opportunities in the Finger Lakes |
| 12/13/2009 6:47:48 AM |

Jeanette called my attention to the beautiful sunrise this morning as I was having my first cup of coffee. I grabbed the camera and rushed out the door this morning to take a couple of pictures. There were patches of blue sky covered by beautiful red clouds which were back-lit by the rising sun. But in only a few minutes, the gray clouds closed the bright blue openings in... Read More |

December Comes to the Finger Lakes |
| 12/6/2009 5:54:14 AM |

The angle of the sun casts a turquoise-bluish color to the waters of Canandaigua Lake. The winds that blow across the lake are cool and crisp but not the bone numbing cold ones which we usually experience in December. All of the boats over at City Pier have been shrink wrapped and stored for the approaching winter season.

Everywhere, Christmas preparations are underway. The... Read More |

Finger Lakes Wilhelmus Estate Winery Expands |
| 12/4/2009 5:47:21 AM |

Since my last visit just before Thanksgiving, work on the new Wilhelmus Estate Winery (click here) production facility continues at a rapid pace. We had just returned from our Pennsylvania trip when I spotted the skeletal beginnings of the new production facility.
My pairing of Wilhelmus’s Noiret wine with my home made beef vegetable soup proved to be a great hit. The... Read More |
